2/18/2013 12:00 AM

Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), today announced it will provide free transportation to clients availing visa screening services at its Disease Prevention and Screening Center in Al Ain.

The new transportation service is in direct response to requests from patrons in Al Qua and Al Wagan areas which are 10-15km apart and located on the outskirts of Al Ain with a 140km drive from Al Wagan to the Al Ain center.

Available on first come serve basis, the shuttle will leave from the AHS Healthcare Centers in Al Qua (7.15am) and Al Wagan (8:00am). Visa screening services are offered from Sunday to Thursday from 7:00am to 3:00pm.

The Disease Prevention and Screening Center is an AHS-entity offering specialized services in the prevention and screening of communicable diseases.

Mohamed Hawas Al Sadid, Acting Director of Disease Prevention & Screening Centers, AHS, said: “As part of our efforts to provide holistic services to our clients and enhance contribution to the healthcare services in the country, we constantly evaluate and innovate our service offerings. For this purpose, our healthcare centers carry out periodic quality and service surveys to gauge the expectations of our patrons. A key outcome of such a study was the request for a complimentary transport service to our center in Al Jimi district. We are confident the introduction of the service will ease the effort of traveling to the center.”

The Al Ain-based Disease Prevention and Screening Center is licensed by the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) to provide visa screening services across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. In addition, the center provides premarital screening and counseling, pre-employment screening, occupational health, travel health, and disease control management services.
Expatriate residents of the UAE are required to undergo medical screening for communicable diseases on arrival in the country as part of the resident visa application process. A fee of AED350 is charged for female private drivers and domestic servants; AED300 for private drivers, nursery workers, food handlers, domestic servants, laundry workers, hairdressers, barbers and gym workers, and AED250 for other categories of employees. Documents required to process the medical clearance include photocopy of the first page of the passport and valid visa or entry permit, original passport and Emirates ID card.
